When you duck the subject at hand by changing the subject, it's an admission you've lost.

If you're ducking the subject at hand you appear to have no valid argument. It's a cheap way to get your opponent worked up. (Usually works though)

You have to fight one battle at a time. Make an argument against the subject at hand, don't just make comparisons to what you consider to be a comparable subject.

Mooooooooooooooooooo - January 20, 2013, 4:14 pm

Apples and oranges man, you can't counter an argument by saying "yeah, but what about a completely unrelated topic". You may have a point about abortion, but it has nothing to do with gun control. Is there really big money in abortions?

thatmfguy - April 12, 2013, 12:12 am
The problem with background checks, or the way they are proposed, is not so much the checks, but a registry being created or privacy being violated. If govt conducts checks then destroys everything after you are approved, it's fine.
thatmfguy - April 12, 2013, 12:10 am
We already have comprehensive background checks for sales, the number Obama like to throw out there (40%) of guns sold without is from 1997 and was proven wrong. Remember, background checks stopped Lanza from buying a gun..he killed his mom and took hers.

Yeah, if they did that (and got rid of the career politicians on both sides) they might not actually be a detriment to the country

After being a moderate Republican for decades, I gave up on the party when the inmates took over the asylum. As much as I despise Karl Rove, he has a point in wanting to cull out some of the crazies.

How else are republicans going to win an election Papafox? Maybe they'll start coming up with rational arguments, issues, and solutions based in reality and backed by facts and logic? that's just unrealistic.
JGalt - February 25, 2013, 7:00 am
Democrats can't win without election fraud..... double voting, fake registrations, dead people voting, etc etc etc

REPUBLICAN VALUES - They say a lot about a party, and it's pretty ugly.

So, Democrats keep people poor and Republicans keep them dumb- sounds like a partnership in crime!

CONSERVATIVE VALUES - Yeah, they're really that warped.

"Obama's brownshirts." ROFL. You've gone off the deep end again buddy.
WTFO - January 21, 2013, 11:26 pm
They function as Obama's brownshirts. While they aren't physically beating up people in the streets (yet), they do attack Obama's detractors in the media and online.
Texmil - January 21, 2013, 10:59 pm
Isn't it interesting that Obama is turning is campaign organization into a lobbying organization? Kind of shows the hypocrisy of his complaining about the Citizens United decision.

One big difference between cars and guns is that gun ownership is specifically guaranteed by the constitution.
ichiparru - February 7, 2013, 6:59 pm
Oh, and you would deny me my right to own a firearm? Because my gun has never killed or injured anyone, and I a**ure you, it is no danger to anyone unless they mean me harm. So who are you to tell me and others like me how to live?
PapaFox - February 7, 2013, 4:31 pm
If you're that paranoid you shouldn't have guns to start with.
ichiparru - February 7, 2013, 4:04 pm
they should take out first if they want to seize total control.
ichiparru - February 7, 2013, 4:03 pm
But registering cars did not lower it's fatality rates. The laws of driving do, so I can see your arguement for guns there. But we also have laws that discourage improper gun use. Making laws to register my firearms just tells the government who
PapaFox - February 7, 2013, 2:46 pm
We can still buy cars, just as we can still buy guns. There is no proposed legislation to change that. Cars are registered and controlled, just as guns should be.
ichiparru - February 7, 2013, 1:20 pm
cars did we? We made cars safer in the event of a crash. But a car and a gun are different, a gun's purpose is to inflict damage. Lethal or not. Hold the shooter accountable, not the weapon.
ichiparru - February 7, 2013, 1:18 pm
True they are lower, but as you said it was the company, and laws we're made to prevent them from making the problem worse. So no freedom was lost to the citizen...so why put controls from citizens obtaining guns? We didn't prevent them from obtaining
PapaFox - February 7, 2013, 12:50 pm
And death by car used to be far worse before safety regulations. Those laws prevent the "just trust us" car industry from making more death traps like the Corvair and Pinto.
ichiparru - February 7, 2013, 11:05 am
And death by car is more likely than death by gun. I swear the idea of gun control is so terribly retarted it makes your entire party look like you are trying to put the square in the triangle hole.
